Why do they make orange juice from concentrate?
Isn't better just to get it "fresh" squeezed like tropicana?
Who buys OJ from concentrate? It just doesn't taste as good. If I wanted water I would drink water.
Yes this is a pretty meaningless post, but that's the point of this forum right.

Orange juice concentrate is less expensive to ship and has a longer shelf life than fresh orange juice.

I tried simply orange, it is not much different. Not worth the extra money for the smaller bottle (59 oz instead of 64)
non-concentrate lasts a month, if you can't finish a carton in a month then you probably don't like oj

Tastes pretty good to me!
I went through a stage of juicing my own chilled oranges, making up a jug at a time and mixing orange types. That's the nicest way but more hassle obviously.

Just "FYI", I used to make my OJ from concentrate using tap water, like "mom" did. Tried using filtered water, & it tastes way better. But still not as yummy as ANY brand of fresh-squeezed!!

As long as the OJ has no pulp, I'm fine with it (concentrate, fresh squeezed, freeze-dried-and-sent-to-the-moon-and-back-and-then-resonstituted-with-lettuce-water, whatever...) I like to drink my OJ, not eat it...

juice from concentrate might not taste as good (at least the cheaper brands) but it's a lot cheaper to get than fresh pressed (which is often from concentrate too these days, but with pulp added).
Maybe it's different where oranges grow, but the transport cost of whole oranges makes them quite expensive here (and freshpressed juice too, takes up a lot of volume to ship).
From a single truckload of concentrate you can make 10 or so truckloads of juice.
When the nearest orange grove is 3 days driving by truck away that's a lot of money spent on truckers (on union wages of course), fuel and maintenance.

Too much effort, although that does taste the best.

There's oranges in stores here maybe 4 months a year, and 2 of those they're so expensive a single glass of juice would cost $2-3...
