I was listening to this song last night that Adam Sandler did, and it's basically nothing but musical references. I can get most of them without having to resort to a search engine, but I thought maybe there were some other music junkies up to the challenge. See how many references you can equate to song title and artist in the following lyrics, without resorting to a search engine of course. Some are obvious, but a few less so. I counted 36 distinct references. I think I got 29 definitively (title and artist), but am unsure about 7 of them.
-------------------------------
Listenin' To The Radio
Adam Sandler

Where's my Peggy Sue?
I could use a Rosalita
If there's a Long Tall Sally out there
I'm dyin' to meet her
Why can't I hear Beth callin' me?
Why can't I be the one to make Sara smile?
I wish I was arm in arm with Jean genie
Walkin' down the aisle
Oh yeah, all right
But I got no Mary Jane
There's no Sloopy or Dancin' Queen
I'm just a fool in the rain
Waitin' on my Billie Jean
I want an Angie, a Mandy, a Candy-O
A devil in a dress of blue
A Rosanna, Diana, a sweet Caroline
I'd even take a Run-Around Sue
Oh yeah, all right
Well, I never got to scream for a Layla
I never saw Mary-Anne walkin' away
I never danced on the sand with a Rio
Or woke up with a Maggie May
I dialed 867-5309
But there was no Jenny Jenny
Oh, why can't I get myself a brown-eyed girl
When Willie Nelson loved so many?
And why does Jack have Diane?
And why does Billy Joe have Bobbie Sue?
And everybody had Roxanne
Except you-know-who
I want an Angie, a Mandy, a Candy-O
A devil in a dress of blue
A Rosanna, Diana, a sweet Caroline
I'd even take a Run-Around Sue
Well I'd take any ol' Suzy Q
I got no reason to be picky
She can be a Goody-Goody-Two-Shoes
Or she can be my Darling Nikki
Oh, Brandy would be such a fine girl
And so would the sweet Judy Blue
I guess I sound just like that other fella
'Cause you know I wish I had Jessie's girl too
Oh yeah, all right
Well, I'd die for a kiss from Allison
Even though I know she'd break my heart
Or give me a Lo-lo-lo-lola
Minus the extra part
I want an Angie, a Mandy, a Candy-O
A devil in a dress of blue
A Rosanna, Diana, a sweet Caroline
I'd even take a Run-Around Sue
You know I'd even take a Run-Around Sue
Well, I'd even take a Run-Around Sue
Oh yeah, all right

The 7 references I didn't get:
Sara
Mary Jane
"I'm just a fool in the rain" - this has to be a reference to something
Candy-O
Mary-Anne
Darling Nikki
"devil in a dress of blue" - The reference is to "Devil in a Blue Dress" afaik, but I can't remember who did it.

I know I am going to feel silly on not having the Mary-Anne one come to me. I can think of part of the melody but the song just isn't coming.
Why can't I be the one to make Sara smile?
Hall and Oates?
Candy-O
The Cars?

That's right! From "More Than A Feeling".
I see my Mary-Anne walking away.
Are Candy-O and the one you gave for Hall and Oats the titles, or are they lyrics in a song?

Darlin' Nikki is a song by Prince, from (i think) the Purple Rain album.

Both are song titles which also appear prominently in the lyrics - but only one was actually heard much on the radio. Sara Smile was, I think, Hall & Oats first hit. Candy-O was also the album title, which is strange since it was a singularly crappy song which received no airplay - the main hit from the album was Let's Go. Candy-O was one of the weakest songs on the album, which was weak overall compared to the previous, most excellent debut album, The Cars. So why is the name Candy-O remembered at all now? Probably because of the album cover.

"Devil with the Blue Dress" - Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels. It was a monster hit in the mid-60's. Sometimes it pays to be old.

There have been lot's of songs with the name "Sara" in the title. Bob Dylan had one but Sandler was probably thinking of the one by Jefferson Starship.

"Fool in the Rain" is a Zeppelin song from In Through the Out Door

Darling Nikki might be a reference to Johnny Cash's 'Darling Companion'.
