Pauline McNamara is doing the "official" review of Head First Java, but as she still has not received the book we decided that I would post my review on the JR so long.
Please note that my review is based on the draft version of the book.

JDJ...I concur. Great review. I read the sample chapters after stumbling on K&B's wickedlysmart website when curious about the domain K&B provided in their SCJP book (have to take the upgrade exam).
Kudos again to K&B. Hope to win the book! I would like to add that I understand your own dilemma. While not as "wise" as your self, I have been programming for 15+ years coming up on BASIC and COBOL. I have wholly embrace Java since its emergence (mainly as hobby too but in the last three years as a career web application front end developer--JSP, JHTML, etc.), Still some of the "finer points" of Java have always missed me. Now, programming for a living I see to the need to fully realize the benefits of OO and Java.
Thank you again JDJ for the review, and thank you K&B for the book!

Thanks guys.
Timothy, I'm so convinced that the book will help "old-farts" to finally understand OO that I'm trying to convince a company over here, in the Netherlands, that specializes in training procedural programmers new tricks to use Head First Java as their student book.
