Hi Mitchell,
The best way to get back into Java is just to write some! There is the JavaRanch's very own Cattle Drive which is a great way to brush up on your java and learn some new stuff too. Or if you want to do it your own way try some of Sun's tutorials or buy a book (try Head First Java - we are all loving it!)
Good luck
Amy

As Amy suggested, head on over to The JavaRanch Cattle Drive and it give 'er a go at the assignments.
Other sources of information and exercises you might want to check out include:
  • Bradley Kjell's on-line Java tutorial
  • Brewing Java: A Tutorial by Elliotte Rusty Harold
  • Sun's Java Tutorial
  • Roedy Green's list of Student Java Projects
  • Project lists are at the end of each chapter of David J. Eck's Introduction to Programming Using Java
  • Good luck.
