Hi There,
When running a program, is there any way to halt the program while executing
it to see what the variable values are at that stage (similar to a echo or
halting and requesting user input or a enter dummy value)?

Hi Otto,
Welcome to JavaRanch!
We ain't got many rules round these parts, but we do have our naming policy, which requires that your display name not be obviously fictional. Please mosey on over to here and change yours, pronto! Thanks, pardner.
Now, as to your question: yes, Eclipse and JBuilder have fine graphical debuggers. There's also jdb, a command-line debugger that comes with the JDK.
