which java I need ?  RSS feed

HI!

I use windows xp and download a small application which according to the site needs java.

I downloaded java and installed.

after I installed I ran the bat file related to the application from the command line and recieced the follwing error( of course the application doensnt start:

H:\>c:\sam\sam.bat
H:\>java -classpath .;lib/activation.jar;lib/jcommon-0.6.3.jar;lib/jfreechart-0.
9.1.jar;lib/mail.jar;lib/mm.mysql-2.0.14-bin.jar;lib/jakarta-oro-2.0.5.jar com.a
llthingscompute.sam.Sam
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/allthingscompute/

Waht is wrong ?

Have you already configured the system variables (CLASSPATH and JAVA_HOME)?

I just installed,what are those veribles ? were to configure?

its installed on XP professional

Set the startup directory of the batch file to be the directory where you installed the application and it should work.
If not check in which directory you can find a path tree com/allthingscompute/ and use that as the startup directory.

To configure System variables:

Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> System >> Advanced >> Environment Variables.

Configure that it points to the folder where Java is installed
