I think its fairly certain that the embargo was working and that Iraqi scientists were not able to produce WMD but that they lied to Saddam about this. The intelligence community's reporting of WMDs may have been based on the lies that were being told. Wouldn't that be funny. Saddam fell because his scientists were too frightened of him to tell him the truth!

Unfortunately there is still the question of the known quantity of WMD materials that the UN was aware of when they left in 1998 that remain unaccounted for and that the Iraqis did not produce evidence of destruction. I guess they just disappeared.

Now, now. Let's be fair. Some of it is the fault of Cheney, Rice, Powell, Tenet, etc. Nothing can be attributed to people serving Clinton or to Clinton holdovers such as Mr. Clark.
Actually Bill Clinton is a good deal more balanced about this than this election-year commission (and particularly the news coverage) is. Clinton doesn't think it's his fault and doesn't think it's Bush fault. He thinks it's Al Queda's fault. I agree.
Hindsight is 20/20 as we'd know if it weren't election year and therefore utterly necessary to tie this can to Bush's tail.....

Mr Clark was the one who advised Clinton against taking action against Al Qaeda several times.
He advised the same to Bush and was ignored.
He has a grudge to settle, hardly the kind of person you would expect an unbiassed opinion from...

Except of course Billy "the Kid" Clinton will do whatever it takes to spite Bush in public in order to further the goal of putting Curry in office.
Of course it's all Al Qaeda's fault, and everyone will agree to that at least in private.
The problem is that it's all party politics with the single goal of winning the elections for the "democratic" party and therefore the truth isn't what the commission wants to uncover. I doubt they'll stop until some conspiracy by the white house has been discovered (or made up, which is the more correct term).

There is a Bret Favre commercial where he is walking through town and when things go wrong tells the people what he would have done. Broken water main, grocery bag breaking, a hair do things like that.
The commercial is a play on the Monday morning quarterbacking but fits well.

Brett is a tasteful guy as we all know. I'm not sure of his other film credits, but remember an ad with him being dumped into a shopping cart and loaded in the trunk of a station wagon. He also starred in Something About Mary, a film I didn't see. But I recall a trailer for the film which showed the effects of a zipper malfunction on a sensitive part.
