ok I'va had nothing but problems with this method since the begining, I'm not sure if the button is even working or if theres a problem with calling method I was using, but at any rate here is the code method first.

and heres the MyDialog class

as you can see I have solved a portion of the problem using JOptionPane, but thats only for the short term, I really want to use this class for my own edification.

OK you have an public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent al) method in your MyDialog class, but that class is not an ActionListener, so therefore nothing is going to fire off this method.
