It looks like there is a good demand for SCBCD 5.0 study guide and there is no study guide in the market.

<Just_kidding> I am thinking of authoring a study guide which could be possibly better than Head First series(A big competetion ). What you say guys, Anyone would like to join hands with me, as no author seems to be writing a study guide for SCBCD 5.0. Anyone willing to author a study guide with me ??

I would like to have it also. But refer to Bert Bates's post

Actually both of those books would be very low on our list of books we'd like to write.

Hi Guys,

Let me clarify the status of an update to the HF EJB book. It's extremely unlikely that Kathy and I will help to write such a book, we just don't feel much passion for it

On the other hand, O'Reilly is open for other authors to discuss such a book. As I'm sure you've noticed, O'Reilly is working with other authors to create other HF books, so it's quite possible that another author can be found. If and when another author is found, Kathy and I will help train them and help in designing and editing the book. It turns out we have a lot of passion for metacognition

hth,

Bert

Bert Bates,

Its very interesting to know why you are not interested preparing SCBCD 5.0 ?

If you feel anything bad or probelms with EJB 3.0 book preparation please share with us.

Are you busy in any another(webservices) book prep which is eclipsing current EJB 3.0 book release?

And I congratulate You and Kathy for introducing such a innovative learning techniques through HF books.

Many a thanks

Okay, about the "passionate" remark.

When Kathy and I started HF, we were (and remain), very interested in metacognition and learning theory. We were both programmers and Kathy was teaching Java at Sun, so Java was a great topic for us to test out some ideas about learning and teaching. There is a lot we like about Java (although personally I think the APIs are a bit out of control). There is nothing wrong with EJBs - used in the right places they make sense. I'm not knocking them, I'm just not passionate about them.

As I've said several times, we'd both love to see Java ME make progress in the industry because we're quite fond of ME and it would be fun to write about it.

hth,

Bert

Bert Bates,

Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
We got the snapshot of your brain.

"Availability" at the right time is the key for any product's success.

But I am quiet happy with the news that "Orilly is looking for new HF Authors" that makes a lot of sense to me.

With advanced new year wishes... and
I wish Core 2 Duo compiles j2me well.

Bert and Kathy,

You started the Head First Magic and we still love to see the magic happen again and again with your new titles on Java EE (EJB, JSP/Servlets, Core Java, Web Services). Please rethink...there are a lot of fans like me willing to see the Head First Java series to be published. Please serve us.

Thanks!

omg

come on guys, get down. all the crying won't work. it will take some time to get a first release of HF EJB3, therefore, if you would like to finish scbcd5 this year, start with o'reilly ejb3, apres pro ejb or mastering ejb3...

I will go for it now.

Dear Bert, I appreciate your frankness on telling us the slim chance about a HFEJB 3 book being created. I will go along with the O'Reilly's Enterprise Javabeans 3.0 and not wait for HF to make the book. I must say, I was very hoping that when I learn EJB it would be the solution to all business application programming. After reading Bert's comments however, he must have seen the other side of EJB then lost his passion for it somewhere. I read that you do have an interest in J2ME now. However, I would like to know what enterprise level computing technology you would suggest as the best. What type of forecast do you see for EJB's future?

Thanks.
