Pankaj. I am not into winning arguments for the sake of it. If you think my posts have been incorrect, correct me. Show me facts (data, URLs, articles or anything factual) and I will change my opinion and stand corrected.

but probably what you dont know is that i was there in the meetings and it was not as secretive in Tech Center as you sound...

No, I did not mean to say that it was secretive but I heard that it was supposed to be a confidential one. People (at least Syntel employees in DCX and by that yardstick, everyone in DCX) knew about it and it was thus I heard about it. I did not pay much attention to it as I am not interested/affected by Syntel's glory/downfall. But your provocative attack made me follow up.

So you were there implies that you are based in DCX (Auburn Hills, Centerline, DCS Farmington Hills?). I work for one of the vendors for DCX and we may be coming down next year for implementation. I will look you up in the directory and if I still remember and if you are still around, I will contact you and maybe we can meet personally and you can clarify.

And i dont think you or your so called Chrysler Manager(which i sincerely doubt) knows what triggered the meeting

Aha!! Go ahead and shoot more. Facts don't change. I am pretty used to credibility attacks by people when cornered.
I have been in Detroit for 12 years. What's the big deal about knowing Managers in Chrysler(or GM or Ford or Delphi or Visteon etc)? Go to the gym or daycare or school or community meetings or shows etc, the chances are pretty good that you will bump into someone (even managers) from the auto industry. I have executed projects in Chrysler (and Ford and GM) for the last 10 years. By the way, do you think that I personally do not know higher-ups from Syntel? Honestly?

...Well no comments!!!

Why on earth would Chrysler hire a Consultant, gather Syntel employees, get feedback, thus spending money and losing productive hours if Chrysler was not concerned about something? I can very well contact some of my friends in DCX/Syntel and post what exactly went on in the meeting. But if you are not interested in pursuing this, then I will let it drop.

Mr. Vikas get your facts correct...Freshers salary in Syntel is close to 17K which is the salary on which tax is deducted...This was when i joined Syntel,,,Now its probably more than that...If you are from BSC background i dont know...And 5 years exp guy is getting more than 6 lakhs in my offshore team....Coming to 1.5 months...Go get your facts correct....I have frends over here on B1 for 3 months I-94 and let me tell you something else...I-94 is given at port of entry in US and most of the times on a B1 the guy wont even know that which company you are from..

I know the guy who is totally useless and afraid of doing coding as he hasn't touch coding more than 5 yrs. and all in being syntel. Only qualification
knows the same regional language that boss speaks. Still getting less than 4 lakhs in India per annum.
I am ex-syntel guy and i can bring atleast 25 persons n this forum i know who are suffering in Syntel or left syntel who can confirm all the facts what we are pointing to.
Everybody here is aware that I-94 is being given at the POE(Port of Entry)-only fools like you can think that you only know what is I-94. At the time when
visa is stamped on your indian passport-the company name may be there or may not. In case of IBM, SAP, Microsoft, Oracle it's there but some small
body shoopers like Syntel-it's not there.

this is the most crap thing i have ever heard...do you even know what form is used to file tax returns in US and who files it...if you have to get tax returns you get the money from government and not your company!!! LOL!!! haha....Your facts are just amazing man!!!

Don't you agree that people who are from syntel india just gets $2600 per month as compensation whether they are on L1 or H1B. Now they have recently changed the rules for Syntel India employee and they are getting flat 61K per annum. Previously this 2600 was after deduction of tax and they use to give false information on the W-4 for the person as if he or she is single and later when the returns are filled-they will tell that he or she is married with a kid etc.(depends on the status of the person.)And whatever money they will get back from IRS-they will keep in their pockets.
Tell me do you DISAGREE with this???

You better reveal your real name and the employee id and then i will get all of your facts from syntel also.

You never replied all my questions but only those ones where i haven't given proper details.

One other fact this company has 3 streams-Syntel Inc.(original syntel), Syntel India and Syntel Consulting. All of them have different terms and conditions. Least bad is Syntel Inc. but most of the people from Syntel Inc. leaves less than a year as this company is just horrible.

Here people can hardly concentrate on their work as you never knows what your colleague is going to do with you. He/She might meet regularly with the boss(not doing any work at all) and getting some deals done. All of a sudden somebody might get promoted or get a salary hike. No standards, integrity, ethics, morals in this company. So just blacklist this company.

And they are doing it same way that another indian company did.
The form that is used to file the taxes is form 1040. Exactly how they might have done this-i don't know as i don't know these mal-practices but lots of syntel employees deputated at the US site do tell me about this stuff.

One more thing to ponder about this company. The Syntel India and Syntel Inc. guys see each other eye to eye. They are jealous and enemies of each other. Absolutely no team work among themselves. Moreover if there is somebody who is working in the same project-he becomes almost a power broker-he wont let others to stay there.

Lets not forget the "Be nice" rule of the ranch. Personal attacks and calling each other fool will not serve any purpose.

Couple of things that comes to my mind. Syntel is not the only employer pocketing employee's tax refunds (assuming it's true). TCS did that Source and who knows there might be other doing it and who are not yet caught.

Regionalism and politics again is not restricted to any particular company. It depends on the Individuals involved and you can find some in any company.

Thats what i am trying to tell you...This is the problem of your friend circle and not any company as whole. People like you and your fiends wherever they go..They pollute the work culture by cribbing about some or the other problem...Every company that you have worked in is worse than some other stupid company in the market..And when you guys go join that so called "other good company"...again you start cribbing and then try changing jobs again and again...Thats your mentality problem...Not any company's problem...Mind you, you are working in IT...one of the most volatile industries...Keep your cool dudes...Else you will land up in some place where no one will even consider you for a job..because of your attitude...

Mr. Prabhu even if you are the CEO of INFY or TCS or whatever your comapny is...I don't care a shit for it...You might bump into Chrysler managers everywhere...I regularly do lunch with them...But whoever you bump into is not going to disclose confidential data to you because these people have an integrity which you don't seem to have...

Well I don't have any idea about Syntel, and I never deal with it, so I never know whether it a bad or good company and I don't want to comment on that.

But my friend who is in Illinois he is with Syntel from an Year, he told me he is working with AAA and that contract is for 8 years. And Syntel filed his GC too after an year.

About work culture I don't know because we never talk about it. So I am trying to add the information not trying to say Syntel is bad or good.

Hello everybody,

I was going thru the hot discussion that was happened regarding SYNTEL.

My sincere suggestion, please don't disclose the Company information like this in this type of forums (whether it is good (or) bad).

Every company (Infosys, Tcs, Syntel etc that you people have mentioned) has there own strengths and weaknesses.

Just becuase of 2 or 3 people are frustrated (In this case with Syntel) and saying anything whatever that comes in there mind, it doesn't effect the Company.

If you people are really frustrated by any company, "GO and Leave that Company" and join your dream Company, if you have guts. Other wise, just do the work whatever that you are doing now.

Without doing anything like that, please don't spread the bad things, as you are frustrated, it will make others to be frustrated.

Whenever anybody goes thru this coversation, they feel very bad.

If you want to spread anything about any Company, If possible try to spread the good things that are happening. Don't spread this type of conversations.

Today, I got this mail conversation from one of my friend. After going thru this, my mood was upset. It disturbed me a lot.

If any person, wants to know about the company he is going to join, go and enquire with the people, who are really working in that company.

Hope you people will end this conversation here itself.

Thanks..Have a Nice day.

Everybody,
I have no intentions of bad mouthing about some company like Syntel-i just want to warn that please have your facts right and set your expectations before joining Syntel. As i didn't want people to be fooled by syntel-if you have any other options consider them-just don't go plain with the salary figures as the desperate companies like Syntel can offer you anything. As somebody mentioned about GC-beleive me GC and immediete hike happens in syntel only when you put down your papers otherwise not. As in the Syntel's website itself it's written that We strongly discourage GC and do only when there is some business needs like somebody's H-1B is getting expired.
As it's true that we cannot generallize any company as it all depends upon the project and your project manager. To some extent on the colleagues and the work that you are doing. But by and large Syntel is "country of blinds" where they do make a lot of commitments at the time of recruitment and then fails to fullfill them. They say GC we will do after 3-4 months based on your performance and in such a political companies there is no proper way of judging somebody's performance. I curse the moment when i joined this company-they told me something and my work and designation was totally different. And it's not me alone-almost 70-80% people feel the same about this company. At the time of leaving this company people are almost mad. I heard that in one of the projects some guy did very strange thing on the last day that the client put him/her in prison. I dont know how true it is but in almost all the cases they dont pay your last salary and any other stuff that's why there is no culture of "notice period" here.
And Mr. Pankaj it's not our attitude that is bad-it's the company that is bad.

Pankaj,
Please do not provide the false statement about Syntel-just because you are here and have no options you are doing all this. Correct???
Whatever negative people are saying about Syntel-almost 80% is correct. It's not like this company as a whole is bad-there are few rare good projects also. Problem is with the leadership-anybody who is beyond Project Manager, Stream manager, sr. deliver and engagement managers are somewhat useless persons. They have no vision and direction. Infact most of the engagement managers are so difficult and hard to approach people that nobody has any hope from them. Yes the regional langauge allegation is right-Before java you should know marathi. Infact these engagement managers at the client location are just like a political parties. Let's say there are 10 project with one client. These engagement managers will put one of the their pet guys there who will pass on all the day to day information to them. Then these engagement managers will play politics based on these information. The problem is people here dont have the right attitude.

About Green card-i am just pasting the contents from the company website which reads:
Green Card Approval Process

Pursuant to Syntel's business model, Syntel, as a policy, strongly discourage processing green card applications for employees. Only in exceptional cases, where the business need is clearly demonstrated, the green card will be processed. A decision to move forward with green card processing will require nomination from the Delivery Director through whom the employee reports and the approvals of the Business Unit Head, Global HR Head & COO. Any questions concerning the decision of whether or not green card processing would be done should be directed to the persons authorized to nominate the employee. Do not contact the Immigration Department regarding the ability to start green card processing or a decision not to start green card processing. The Immigration Department will only process green cards for employees that have been approved by as noted above and are sent to the Immigration Department with written documentation of such approval. No nominations for the India deputees except thru special approval by COO

For nominations, employees must meet following conditions:

Minimum one - two years of work experience with Syntel Inc.
Performance rating of " Excellent 20 " or "A" for two consecutive appraisal cycles preceding the GC initiation.
Nominations to be restricted to Project Leads / Managers / niche skills.

This they have changed some 4 months back. Actually they fooled a lot of people at the time of hiring in terms of GC, work, designation and once people reallizes that they start leaving the company(only those who are capable of). The problem is if you go thru the website also-nothing is written in a very assertive manner. For everything it's like "Company policy can change at any time....."
No integrity, ethics, moral and honesty in this company. Actually it's just a body shopper and nothing more. And it's brand name and reputation is also very low.

Some more facts about syntel-
1)Doing no more GC
2)No employees stock options
-these can change the moment you resign
3)Some of the projects and locations-they are still like bodyshoppers-they dont have the complete end to end projects as they are ready to work on any conditions with any client. Some of the projects like Target at MN, USA-they are placing people where there is a place for single individual no matter he/she knows that technology or not. they are just desperate to somehow make the profit on the billing part for the employee. There is no care for employee's career.
So think 10 times before joining such companies.
