Two men walk into a room. One looks around and realises he's about to die. Why?

When both men walk into the room, one sees that a steel door behind them is closed and there is no knob nor a key hole to open the door... there are no windows no other doors and there is no way they can get out.
There are million of answers to this question, just like to this question: "Why?"

the answer to "why?" is easy:

Hey, guys, its just a game!
Angela, questions:
Is the room important or it could happen in any other room in there was the same object?
Is it important when all this happened?
Is there anything special in a man-to-die or any other man would fit here?
another man:
are their relationship important?
Did he want the second mans death? Had one of them to die or the whole situation is clearly another mans crime?
Did a man-to-survive somehow used (touch, eat...) the object after they entered the room?

The other man is DEATH. So the one who looks around, sees DEATH and then he realises he is going to die as DEATH is so near him.

Possible Solutions:
1) They are going into a gas chamber with only one gas mask in the room.
2) (I had one politically incorrect answer for this spot...but I'll leave it off to avoid offending anyone).
3) James Bond and his arch nemisis. Only one escape hatch...the bad guy realized that Bond never dies.
4) The mortician and a future customer walking into a morgue for the customer to pick out his casket.

This much is true .. the object is a mirror and he realises after looking into it that he is about to die ... just one more piece of info needed. You guys are close now.
And yes this isn't actually likely to happen in real life.

Any room as long as it had the same object, or similar.
Is it important when all this happened?
No

Did he see in the mirror a glint of pointy long teeth in the other guy, and realize he's a vampire
However, when Jon turned around shocked, he couldn't see any pointy teeth, just a smiling face. He couldn't imagine his best friend Tony (not Tony Alicea) having pointy teeth... Jon and Tony had grown up in the same Miami suburb.

OK OK close enough.
He looked in the mirror and could only see his own reflection and so realised that the guy he was with was a Vampire ... and that he was about to be a victim.
SOLVED!!
Well done guys!

Wow! is that really the answer you had in mind. Didn't know vampires can't be seen in mirrors. Will keep that in mind

As a Philosophy Major I heard this one a lot. The only other acceptable answer is 'Because'.

But you don't die when you bitten by a vampire - you just turn into one after your bitten three times. Isn't this how it goes?Perhaps a vampire could shed some light on this (or not shed some light - being a vampire and all).

You do die ... but then you come back as "un-dead" you still don't have a heart beat (According to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") ... also not everyone who is bitten by a vampire becomes one.
