to "hit on" someone means to "make advances toward" them

Never to be confused with "put a hit on". While the former expresses affection, the latter certainly does not.

"put a bid on someone" sounds a lot like pursuing to fulfill ones sexual fantasies for money. That's illegal in most states
How about "put a hip on"?

2. I've been chasing girls half my age. they look a whole lot better.
3. im not certain of my feelings for her. although she certainly made some points by making me feel wanted

Randall, what is it exactly that you want, I'm confused? Are you 36 or older, BTW, 'cause if not you might be in big trouble. Since you are not sure if she's the one, why not to take a good wham-bam then?
What is wrong with mutually beneficial wham-bam?

this thread is getting very long so just one last post.
these young college girls are soooo desireable but i think i will take some advice from the Rolling Stones.

you can't always get what you want
but if you try sometime
you just might find
you'll get what you need

- Well if thats the case..there aint no "taking advantage of anyone".. it seems more mutual.
As I percieve, "advantage" is not mutual.

In the beginning she hadn't thought of you at partner material. Now she thinks you are. Our society makes it difficult to tell you this, so she has to tell you under the accepted means: under the influence of alcohol.
She made the first move. You did the right thing. But now you have to make the next move: ask her out. Dinner and a movie.

You are so right!!! That's the biggest thing I'm going to miss about school
But hey, I can always go to Cedar Point or Six Flags - plenty of eye candy there too!!!

Just don't go for it because it will cut your rent/mortgage in half.
Because it will increase your expenses five-fold.

i knew there was a reason i was leary of her. i wanted to ask her out to see a movie this weekend. i tried contacting our mutual friend. then on a hunch i went to the tavern. there she was with some other guy and she left with him. i guess she just couldnt pick anyone up last saturday. i guess i am just fated to always be alone. i guess javaranch is right to say it is always a good idea to check out the local watering hole.

You don't want a drunk chick anyway. What happened to that nice girl that sat next to you in class?

I seldom heard of someone who drinks will end up a schizoprenics. Is the drunk chick a schizopreniac?
