So what are relationships between body and soul according to Catholic doctrine? Is body only a container, that provides place for rent, or does it affect soul? How does Catholicism explain mental deceases, like for example, multiple personality disorder?

The body and soul are a tandem, not just is the body a container for the soul, at least by Catholic doctrine. Neither works well when either is damaged. Mental illness is for the most part a disease of the body, specifically the brain. On the other hand, the world is replete with people who have done immense evil and yet are not mentally ill by clinical standards, that is a type of spiritual illness.
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction. - Ernst F. Schumacher

That seems to imply the less intelligent ones survived while others perished. It is difficult to concieve an environment in which this could be true.

Intelligence isn't much of a factor when there is no food to be found. An interuption of the food chain can bring down any species. As one example take the Neanderthals, who were in Europe. If I remember correctly, they perished because of the ice age and the subsequent lack of food. Food was still in sufficient supply in the equatorial regions of the planet enabling species in those areas to continue to survive. Environment is the overriding factor in species survival, not intelligence.

I dont know whether anyone has noticed it or not.. but what I read and see in news, I found that all sciences are so much related that psychological problems are controled by chemical medicines. I was just reading about goose skin. When one fear then some chemical reaction happens in body and then your hairs become straight.
But to say that human "soul" (whatever it is) is "the eternal part of you that will live on after your death" is like to say ... that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Can you define energy.. From where first energy came ?? If it cant created then how come its there in this univaerse.

Ok, I advanced my understanding of what bothers me in all this religious business. I read a textbook today, and there was a phrase that the author hopes his reader will finally become a researcher "who is open-minded and takes nothing for granted." This is what confuses me about religion: if you are a true believer, you are not open-minded and you are ready to take something for granted. How do people who got scientific education combine this "researchers" credo and faith?
My personal belief: "A person who preaches religion bases his thoughts on one lie and one assumption. The assumption being that a divine entity exists and the lie being that the person can interpret the divine's wishes"
