My assumptions are based on my experiences with people who are semi-believer in God.
When I say semi-believer, I mean for them there is someone who has created this world but they are not the person who will go to temple to pray or they dont belive more than that.
Or we can say that they dont believe that someone is still controlling them.
OR they have their own definition of sin and good work.
Though I see very less people in temple who come to sit there. Most of the people will come, pray and go.
I dont understand the need of coming to temple for them in this way.
They can do the same in their own home.
But again these are my views and are from my own personal experiences.

There is no such thing as God and IF there were, there would be very very few people in heaven (or whatever happens to the good people in your respective religions) unless he was an extremely forgiving God because I have never met anyone who deserved to be there. Have any of you?

Well until someone can prove there is one, which no one has in my mind, then there isn't.
It is like saying you believe in gremlins. No one has proved they don't exist.
As for knowing someone who was there, I won't respond to that on the off chance that you were talking about a relative who had a near death experience. I'm not aiming to be disrespectful to anyone.

Never mind my relatives. Through the wholly book, I witnessed myself the great deeds of Allah when he walked on the water, filled the rivers of Mesopotamia with blood, fed 7,000 people with just one swine, and shit like that. There simply can't be other explanation for that. Even Darwin said, "God doesn't play dice with the universe".

I don't think you understand, Mr. Morris. I had a revelation the other night, and although you are certainly entitled to your conclusions, I voted "Yes, absolutely" in the poll. Incidentally, I'd like to point out the complete inappropriateness of your remark, which I hope will not go unnoticed by the moderators of this forum.

Some of these posts can easily be viewed as blatantly disrespectful of others and their beliefs. Disagreeing with somebody is one thing, ridiculing ones religion or beliefs are another.

I never have met anyone who deserved to be there either. In fact the Bible also agrees with you.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Of course, if you don't believe that God exists, you can't believe these are true.

On the other hand, you might believe that God exists, but that the Bible is false, which would again inhibit your belief in these statements.

Really?

I didn't realize that the Quran contains Bible verses (John 14:6). And I was under the impression that Jesus was not considered to be Allah nor the son of Allah by believers in the Koran.

The basic problem of being theist.
Theist: Its more important who is saying than what is being said.
Semi-thesit: It does not matter who is saying, important is what is being said.
Atheist- Nothing matters...

It seems to me that if someone makes a statement about "I" and "me" as in the above reference, "I am the way ... but by me." that it matters who the I and me are. I agree with you about the part about the Theist and the Atheist.

On the other hand, if you're talking about a statement like "God created the heavens and the earth," then your Semi-theist statement may make more sense to me.

All decent polls have "I have no opinion" option or something like that. So I figured we need to have it also. I imagine, that not having an opinion is different from "agnostic" option, because in the latter case a decision is, in fact, made.

Noting that both the atheist and agnostic answers begin with "no", I think it's simpler to think of the answers this way:
Do you believe in God?
1. Yes, absolutely
2. Yes, somewhat
3. No, I don't think so
4. No, definitely not
5. Undecided
Here 4 may not be an exact match for what some people think "agnostic" means, but it fits better with the other answers, and bypasses tedious distinctions between atheist and agnostic which don't seem to mean the same thing to different people anyway. In this scheme of course it would've made more sense to put undecided in the middle rather than at the end.

[RK]: Theist: Its more important who is saying than what is being said.
If you're referring to Marilyn's response to Eugene, that has less to do with Marilyn being a theist than it does with the fact that Eugene was just making stuff up to mess with peoples' minds. I as an atheist would've responded much the same way Marilyn did - except I had decided Eugene was just trying to bait people, and should be ignored.

MdeQ: And I was under the impression that Jesus was not considered to be Allah nor the son of Allah by believers in the Koran.
This depends upon who you ask. I can't speak for all the muslims, of course, but as we the protestant muslims believe, Jesus (known to us as Mahmud) was Allah's stepson. Along with Mubarakah, Jesus' mother, and God himself, they form the holy quadruple: Zeus, the Stepfather, the Virgin, and Mahmud.
I know, this may sound a bit confusing to the people who were first introduced to protestant islam, but it's the truth and the only way to heaven.

- i donno what category i fall in (undecided?)
- i personally dont seem to believe in god (atheist?)
- i would not like to question 'faith' of others who are really committed to god (agnostic?) as i believe in respect and would not persist on prooving my point to the limits at which it all ends in 'tears'

The apostates get the next to last chamber, I fear the lowest depths have already been reserved for Judas, Brutus (of Julius Ceasar fame), Nimrod and the Nephalim. But hey, I guess anything is possible if you work at it.

Some people aren't too religious, yet they wouldn't call themseves "atheists" either. Some believe in Supernatural Power, but do not believe this Supernatural Power has a personality. Well, whatever it is, there are 15 votes, so ask all these people what they mean.
