The first time you login, it is expected nothing show up as now. Similarly, your OWN posts would never show up as new. However, if you come back later you should see new posts.

I like the snappier response times, and the new look isn't bad either. Best of all
is the new preview button when posting. This was a lot of work, so congratulations
for pulling it off. Now I understand why some of the problems with the old forum
weren't being worked on.

It's been suggested to make the content expandable, maybe by way of a little "+" button to click on. We put that on the wish list; no promises, though.

That's a good suggestion; it'll be in the next release.

In the UBB forum, we can check the "read by recipient"/"unread by recipient" status for each private messages (sent messages). But we cannot see it in new JForum.

I wouldn't call that a problem. Personally, I like it on privacy grounds. I've added an entry to http://faq.javaranch.com/java/JForumTransition that this is no longer possible.

That's the message you see when the server is being upgraded. We updated the software several times over the weekend; this must have happened at one of those times. It takes about 30 seconds to restart the server, and during that time, none of the forum pages are accessible.

It means you may have come to the new site a few moments before we actually opened it to the public, and now have an old Javascript file in your browser cache. Empty your browser cache, and you should see that message go away.

I still need to adapt to the new look and feel :roll: . One new feature I really like is the View count. However I think there is still an error with it. There are lots of posts where the View count is less than the Reply count.

My guess is that the reply count is from the actual replies, hence, is correct. However, the view count is new, and hence, is a count of the views since the forum starting counting it. And there are likely to be lots of topics that haven't been viewed, or viewed very little, since the the new forum started to count it.

Views prior to January 3rd don't count whereas posts prior to January 3rd too. New threads shouldn't have this discrepancy.

When the code tag is rendered, it has a link named "copy to clipboard" on the top of the code fragment. When we click on it, a message says the code is copied to the clipboard, but it doesn't work. Check the following sample:

You may not have understood. Access to the system clipboard is specifically forbidden by security policy in many browsers. Internet Explorer, of course, allows it by default, because IE allows everything by default! But in Firefox, you have to jump through hoops to turn it on. See

Here is a hideous hack involving Flash which lets a programmer accomplish it in Chrome:
