This seems to be a never-ending process. Every time I think I've purged all the obsolete tech books, I find another stash somewhere.

Plus time passes and different books go obsolete. That's one nice thing about changing jobs or job locations. It forces going through one's possessions. (I have about half my tech books at work and the other half at home.)
