OK. If you are not going to listen to the advice of the experienced developers who are trying to help you, then I'm not sure what more help we can be to you.

Without a valid deployment descriptor, the container will not enable the EL, so the small example I suggested will never work. It may not be the only problem you have, but it certainly is one of them.

OK, so show us the new deployment descriptor. Does it make the ${3+4} example work?

Have you forgotten the purpose of this thread? You were having this problem generating HTML. Then it was suggested that you should change your deployment descriptor to fix that problem. So you changed the deployment descriptor. Now wouldn't the logical next step be to see if that fixed the problem?

Dear Puja,
People here are more than kind to spend time trying to help you although that isn't their problem.
I would suggest to calm down, take a breath and start again trying to solve your problem.
Cheers,
Hussein.

Until you have the page showing correctly isn't that putting the cart before the horse?

Is the test page now correctly displayed?

Remember that "today" is different in different parts of the world. I, for example, am about to head to bed.

Make sure you have a clean/new installation of Tomcat. Perhaps someone might have changed the global web.xml.

If your web app works on someone else's installation, it sounds like your Tomcat install is hosed. I'd re-install fresh.
