I noticed this site was written using CGI (at least I gather that from the extension in the address bar...).

Is it worth learning?
Does CGI provide something that servlets and jsps do not?

As a webapp developer, I'm kinda curious.

Common Gateway Interface is one of those general terms that defines a mechanism for doing things on a server. It can be implemented in different ways in different languages.
Use google to research it.

Check out the first chapter of Core Servlets, in which CGI is compared to JSPs and Servlets...
