Using Method Invocations

Hi I have the following code:

if (color.equalsIgnoreCase("blue") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("red") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("gray") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("orange") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("yellow") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("green") || color.equalsIgnoreCase("white"))
mywindow.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.XXXXX);

Do you see the part of my code with the XXXXX's? I have the user input the name of a color in the string earlier in the program. How do I use the string in place of the XXXX's? The name of the string is "color", quite appropriately.

Here's one way...

if(color.equalsIgnoreCase("blue")
mywindow.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.blue);
if(color.equalsIgnoreCase("red")
mywindow.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.red);
//etc...

You can't pass [i]color[i/] as an arg to Color.Just use if-else to determine which Color to choose.

if(color.equalsIgnoreCase("blue"))
setBackGroud(Color.blue);
else if(color.equalsIgnoreCase("red"))
setBackGround(Color.red);
......

if you are using java 5.0 you can do something like that.
