Hi,

I want to write a program to get the disk space(available and used) of my and other computers attached to the network. Could somebody please tell me where to look at to accomplish it. I'm not asking for the code but just some guidance on what i should study/read to accomplish it. Thanks for your time.

Mustang's java.io.File class has the methods getTotalSpace, getFreeSpace and getUsableSpace.

Basically you can't do that in Java. As Jeff says you will be able to do it for your own computer in the next version, but for other computers you're probably out of luck in any language at all. Is there a practical reason why you want to find out the free disk space on my computer (yes, it is attached to the network -- the Internet) or is it just for fun?
