This is prob' a really simple problem. I have just downloaded J2SE SKK and have tried to change the the path environment variable that points to the /bin directory in the java directory. Not sure if I have done it correct, because when I type % javac at the command prompt it doesn't recognise it. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanx,

Drew,

What did you do to change the path? Did the change have any effect?

By your choice of the prompt symbol and directory separator I guess you are running a Unix system of some kind. You can check the value of the PATH enviroment variable by giving the command "echo $PATH" (on windows you would type "echo %PATH%")

I believe the installation instructions mention something about how to permanently change the application search path:

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
