Hey all,
I would like to extend my JAVA development skills and would like to know how and where I can get started. I am developing PHP applications at work but love JAVA! I am fluent in the language and am excited to work on contract-based jobs to get my feet wet. Any ideas or links? Free feedback. Thanks.

Without experience you're never going to get a job as a contractor, certainly not (as you seem to be looking for) as an expat on an H1 visum.
Or if you get it it will be illegal, as companies aren't allowed to hire people with no expience on an H1 (which is reserved for people they can't get locally, and there are tons of people without experience).

Hi Bensan!

Welcome to JavaRanch! We have a forum especially for job-related topics, so I'll move this there for you.
