hi all,

Hope you all are doing great!

I read that the important limitations in specific markup languages like HTML is

"A DOCUMENT MIGHT NOT BE PORTABLE TO OTHER APPLICATIONS,AS THE DATA IS NOT SELF-DESCRIBING"

Other Applications - can you please give some examples & explain?

"THE SPECIFIC MARKUP LANGUAGE HAS A PROPRIETARY WAY OF MARKING UP TEXT THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER MARKUP LANGUAGES This can create confusion and additional work for authors who must use several languages to accomodate different applications"

can somebody please explain these 2 limitations of specific markup languages which paved the way for XML?

cheers,
arrgem!
