Can java read in one character per character without waiting for me to enter the new line? I'm using System.in.read()

Hi, welcome to the ranch!

Your first question is very nicely done: short, concise, clear. And, um, the answer is no. Sorry. The Java console is not a terribly sophisticated user interface.

What is it you're making? Do you have any experience with Swing or GUI interfaces?
