I decided to start building castles. I bought the Ruined Tower mold last week because it's one of the few structures you can build that only required 1 mold. I didn't want to invest in a lot of molds then decide I don't like doing it.

Just bought so Ultracal-30 today for casting. I will have to cast the mold 14 times to get all the pieces I need so that should take most of the weekend. I'll probably post pictures somewhere of the whole process I go through just for fun.

Good! We'll check and see if it's anything like the original.
Those blocks look like tiny pieces.

They are pretty small. The mold is only like 5"x6" and it has 12 or so pieces in the 1 mold.

Here are some pictures of my first casting attempt. It went really well I have to say and is pretty darn easy.

The mould is about the length of a teaspoon. I must say the little block pieces are looking good.

The etherial mold, Incapable of stain. --Milton.

Nature formed me of her softest mold. --Addison.

He forgeth and moldeth metals. --Sir M. Hale.

Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay To mold me man? --Milton.

TO be difficult we, the Royal we, always use mould.

Mold in the UK at least is the green growth that you'd find in dark , damp and dank places.
Which I am pretty sure Milton and the rest were not referring to in their lines.

Which would be relevant if the topic were "examples of inconsistencies in English spelling from past centuries". Since it's not, I'm not sure what the point here is. You (Helen) were the only one to bring up mold vs. mould, after all, using quotes of British origin demonstrating the inconsistency. (Assuming the quotes are accurate and don't reflect translations made by archivers.) So?

[HST]: Good! We'll check and see if it's anything like the original.

Is there a particular historic original you're referring to here, or are you just talking about the picture?

Gregg: looks cool. So what next? Do you just look at it, or do you invite some RPG/wargamer friends over to try to lay siege to it?

I'm sure it will be just to look at for me at my house. A lot of people build them and use them for AD&D type stuff. I'll probably do a few of the projects from the guys web page then hopefully be able to build some custom structures of my own.

It was just that I was surprised that the spelling that far back was m-o-l-d. It definitely still is m-o-u-l-d on these shores at least.

In Paradise Lost John Milton uses mold again

Heroic built, though of terrestrial mold,

but this time surely it means earthly substance, of earth rather than to shape or form. But then again "etherial" is spelled instead of "ethereal"
so it could be a case of mistaken spelling as Jim suggests.

Actually the picture. I was a bit skeptical about it working on such a small scale. Hopefully Gregg isn't feeling under any particular pressure now.

Not yet. Still making blocks. LOL. The block making process is long and boring. I will probably be piecing some things together towards this weekend, so hopefully I'll have some progress to show early next week.
