OK, this is why moderating at JavaRanch is the toughest job you'll ever love. I don't know whether to delete Herb's post, or to just wipe my eyes, pick myself up off the floor, and try to figure out some way to stop laughing. Man, Herb, it's great when somebody has a sense of humor about themselves.

I'm going to leave this here, but if anybody else comments on it, the whole mishugas is out of here.

After watching several threads I particpated in today deleted already today (admittedly political), I figured let's try for one more...

I believe it's "meshuga", if used as an adjective, and "meshugas", if used as a noun. Fighting hard to preserve the Yiddish...

If it's voting for the nominated, Audrey Hepburn, no doubt !!

(Hmm... after reading about how they made the late Indian actress Madhubala look good on camera, soumya would like to be nominated too ...)

Mel Gibson for male eyes cannot be faulted.
I couldn't find a good earlier picture of Paul Newman otherwise I'd have nominated him.

Elizabeth Bennet had been attributed "a pair of fine eyes" in Jane Austen's
Pride and Prejudice.

Miss Bingley: I believe I can guess your thoughts at this moment.
Mr. Darcy: I should imagine not.
Miss Bingley: You are thinking how insupportable it would be to spend many evenings in such tedious company.
Mr. Darcy: No, indeed, my mind was more agreeably engaged. I've been meditating on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes and the face of a pretty woman can bestow.
Miss Bingley: And may one dare ask whose are the eyes that inspire these reflections?
Mr. Darcy: Miss Elizabeth Bennet's.
Miss Bingley: Miss Elizabeth Bennet. I am all astonishment.

Jennifer Ehle, Keira Knightley and Aishwarys Rai (sp??) have been cast in the role and all have a pair of very fine eyes.

How did I forget ASH???
SO I am adding her to my nomination list.

But since it's only about eyes, I am not too sure if she's my No. 1 nomination.

Which Austen heroine are you ? Take the Quiz. Link on extreme left.

That last image is BBC Bollywood's take on the Austen theme.
If BBC tried a Hollywood theme they could cast Anne Coulter as Elizabeth Bennet, Schwarzenegger as the affable nice Mr Bingley and the Mr Darcy role remains open until August.

What I find surprising is that Keira's neckline is so modest in contrast to Jennifer Ehle's. So what has changed in the space of 10 years ?
My prediction is that the new Pride and Prejudice would be a box office hit
in the U.K. only in spite of Keira's appearance.

I've always felt it wasn't so much the eyes as the message.

I remember a girlfriend who used to tell me I had beautiful eyes. I do not. But given the way I felt, I can certainly believe she enjoyed the way I looked at her.

I always felt Bhanupriya looked as if she were blind ( just like i feel Hemamalini is squint )

And green eyes give such a distant, cold feeling, don't they ? Blue eyes are better that way, u could swim in them

That's exactly my feeling with that photo. [ick removed-MH]
Blue eyes? To each his own but I like dark eyes better (yes, I have blue/grey eyes myself as does all my family).

I've read somewhere that there is no eye that is real Black, it's actually darkest of browns. I may be mistaken, let me do some research on that

Perhaps the vote should go for Beautiful Eyes and Brains.

Ha! Pamela Anderson had us fooled all those years. She has writ a book "Star" , albeit with a ghostwriter to help with sentence construction.

For the more fastidious amongst you here's a selection from woman chess players with beautiful eyes. Alexandra Kosteniuk , Iweta Radziewicz,Susan Polgar,EKATERINA POLOVNIKOVA .(forget about searching for Karpov types- ,ale chess players are not known for beauty. Or manners!)

Russian, EKATERINA POLOVNIKOVA is sure to get plenty of votes.

Susan Polgar,USA, would be close run up Or even a winner if POLOVNIKOVA is considered too fat.

Move over Judit Polgar,Hungary, here comes Kateryna Lahno!

Judit Polgar, Hungary is the strongest woman chess player of all time.
