Hi, I have an idea to build a web application. However, I'm about to take the SCJP5 exam and haven't the slightest notion on how to use Java/ j2ee for the web.

What I want to build is:

1. A database with questions (I'm alright here)
2. A site where student can log on and practice the questions
3. The site saves the scores and student's performance in an individual profile.

Graphically, it doesn't need to be "flashy". So my question is:

What do I need / can I use to build something like this? What about Struts, Spring and Hibernate, will they facilitate the development?

Any starting tips?

Thank you so much.

If you have no idea how to go about doing it with j2ee, then i'd try doing it with just servlets and jsp first. Once you are comfortable with that, then the frameworks will help you be mor eproductive and you'll understand them better.

Personally, i think spring is awesome, but if you're app is small then it might not be that helpful. JSF might be helpful (i dont know struts).
