take up a new hobby like fishing, Irish tap dancing ?

redecorate the house ?

do something for the home, like redesign one of the rooms or get new furniture and toys or build a pool
I'm a wife, I would appreciate that

Furniture part is done, if u can see in my blog(I drove 240 miles to buy some nice stuff).

Give me some thoughts that will be different and will surprise my wife(furniture is not a surprise, since that was planned before hand).

That's a long way to go to get furniture. Couldn't they have delivered it to you ?

What gives ? You don't go to Oklahoma to shop. Even their mail-order brides/grooms aren't collected.

Redecorate the house but don't,don't redesign the kitchen. Not if you value your life.

You could get the BBC and Allan Titchmarsh to redesign the garden. The wife will love that.

Well, last time I came from trip, my husband cleaned the home. That was a big surprise for me, and it was enough to make me happy , oh and he also cleans home when I pass my java certifications
So you got the furniture... What did you do for kids?
Does your wife drive her own car? you could do something with the car...like professionaly clean it and get something really cool - small TV for Kids, for example.
Does she have everything she needs for kitchen?
You could get her some sporting equipment, but only if she is already excersizing at home or has mentioned it. Many women may interpret it wrong.
One thing that would make me happy at any time - professionally cleaned carpet and saree fabric on my windows..
That's it ... out of ideas. unless... Is your wife computers person? you could get her a laptop.

Enjoy man .. enjoy ..

Invite your old friends.
Go to the places where you wanted to go but could not go.
Fill fridge with beer bottles.
Try cocktails which you could not because of fear of hangover or getting drunk.
Get up late in morning and sleep late.
drink, eat and merry

true .. I am bachelor

Practice cooking difficult food items so that on their arrival(and later also!) you can serve them. From which state of India, you(your wife) are originally from?Depending on that select the item.
you can try one of the following:

For details Food
Above one is the best and practical thing to do instead if giving 2001 red roses and taking your family to restaurent.
Don't do any furniture,or redesign or something, very few couples agree on that

Why not all his girlfriends?

sort all his girlfriends by age. Then invite each one and tell each one to cook food for the next day. Continue that till your family returns.

Can't he do that without 'sorting by age'?

Maybe to make sure not to call same one twice by mistake Or to exclude very young ones, they probably don't cook well.

All the girl friends are in other towns and married with children. May be I can check if their husbands are out-of-country or working on busy projects.

The thought is not bad....
