Hi,

At my shop we run a java (jboss) application that uses the search engine dtSearch.

We're considering moving this application to a 64bit environment for performance reasons, however at this time dtSearch doesn't have a 64bit version of their engine available.

My question is whether a 64 bit JVM can call the 32 bit version of the search engine?

thanks for any insight.

I believe the difference between a 64 bit JVM and a 32 bit JVM is how the JIT works. The JIT for a 64 bit JVM will generate instructions using the longer address spaces, longer registers, etc. The class files are the same for both, as there is no distinction like 32 bit and 64 bit class files.

Please correct me if I am wrong...
