Hi - I currently have JDK 6 installed but want to change to JDK 5 due to library conflicts. Do I need to remove JDK 6 first?

Cheers,

Depends what you use it for. It may be as simple as changing your JAVA_HOME environment variable

I'm using it for programming - as research for my FYP I want to brush up on web development using the SUN Web Developer Tutorial, which recommends JDK 5 due to the tutroial examples encountering "library conflicts with JDK 6".

Any further advice?

In general you should be able to install J5 and change your path.

I have 1.4, 5 and 6 on my machine with no problems and regularly switch between them.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
