I join Institute which is referred by Sun Microsystems - India for SCJP. In that lecturer told us 2 things
1) Applets are not use in industry, now many other things are use which is better than applets.
2) microsoft create .NET so now java going down in market. Microsoft will take over java soon!
I think he must told us false thoughts but i confuse!

The first part is just wrong -- I have a few customers working with applets -- and it works perfectly okay. As for other things "which is better", that may be true. IMO, javascript (via AJAX), and Macromedia flash does a much better job for most pages than applets.

Quite frankly, I have never seen a .NET implementation in production -- although I have seen a few for internal stuff. For .NET to "take over java", Weblogic (BEA), Websphere (IBM), JBOSS (Redhat, Open Source Community), and all other Java Web and Application servers have to "go down in market".

I don't see that happening anytime in the near future -- and I'm one of those people who picked Betamax over VHS.
