Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger.

Next week the Steelers play the Giants at New York. Now Im a bit of a novice at the game, being one of those furrigners, but from what I can tell, Eli is really stinking it up, whereas Roethlisberger is having an unbeaten run.

(Disclaimer: Im a Packers fan, not a Steeler fan, for any Giants Fans out there who are about to cry foul).

Ive heard arguments that Eli has had a tough schedule, but if you look at Ben, hes played the two best teams in the NFL, the Eagles and the Patriots, and beaten them to boot!

What I want to know is, for these two rookies, has there ever been a starting rookie QB with a record worse that Eli's, or a record better than Bens?

There have defintely been rookies with worse records than Eli's. I'm not sure about ben's record though. I will say this for Eli... the Giants offensive line SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!

I think John Elway went 3-11 his first year.

Well, neither QB is starting the entire season which is normal. It's difficult to compare best/worst records for that reason.

Ben is undefeated (9-0) as a starting QB and I think Eli as a starter is without a win at 0 and 5.

I honestly think that this does not make Ben great and Eli horrible per se. There are many other people on the two teams responsible and I think mister krabs said it best. I think Marino once said the best quarterbacks usually start with the worst teams. I think there is still hope for Eli. It might take a trade to see him as a star again though.

Ben has had a great year. Cower simplified the offense to accommodate the rookie QB. The Steeler's line is solid, fantastic in fact. The running game is solid, the receivers are good. The whole team is very well rounded. He is benefiting from playing for a good team. Would he be 9-0 if he played for the Giants? No way. Is he good? Yes, the solid team around him is allowing him to play well and he has the skills.

Eli plays for a mediocre team that has a lousy offensive line. However, he is not passing well, even when he has time. He has happy feet and a jittery uneasy style on the field. He demonstrates no confidence or leadership. Does he stink? So far he has. Does he have talent? Yes, he was a top rated QB in college. Perhaps a bit over-rated due to his last name, but still very good. The bottom line is, he's not ready for prime-time. Most rookie QBs are not. He may be good... someday. The Ben/Pittsburgh story is special, it normally doesn't work that way.
