Dear sir

I am wondering if you would supply me with an example of producing a printed form from a java application.

I am presently engaged in producing a program for the design of transformers, all the important variables are in a class called NewTransformer.
There are 3 swing classes and on transformer calculation class. After the user enters the basic data a screen is shown called Engineering Data sheet with engineering transformer data for design perusal at this stage it can be recalculated with the new edited data supplied, when the engineer is satisfied he wants a printed copy with additional information shown. I would like to make a formatted form in word or some other application or even in java itself the form would supply the variable labels and pull the data from new transformer then supply a nice looking data sheet for their records.

Thank you for your help

Terry Oliver.

Hi Terry,

What have you done so far? Your question seems a little open-ended at the moment.

Some sites you might want to look at if you have not yet done anything with printing:
  • Sun's Printing on the Java SE Platform page (has links to other pages, in particular:
  • Sun's Lesson: Printing gives a nice introduction to printing
  • "Printing in Java," Jean-Pierre Dub´┐Ż (JavaWorld) provides (IMHO) a better tutorial and he then provides a framework to make printing easier.

  • Regards,
