My daughter got asthma when she was two years old. She is 5 now, and she gets attacked by asthma almost once a month. We have seen a few doctors, but it seems none could help a lot.

Can you, if having similar situation, share some information?

Thanks.

Some people were advicing about doing YOGA specific to this problem.I know some real people who got cured.
There is chance that Asthma may disappeat after the age of 12 or so(mostly).

I suffered from asthma from about 6 - 12 years old. Around 11 or 12 I started reading about how a healthy diet was so wonderful. I avoided sugar and junk food. Asthma has been gone since around 12, which was near the time of puberty for me. Some people simply "outgrow" it, which I think is what happened to me. On the other hand, I think modifying diet is worth a try. Asthma can be caused in some people by a type of allergic reaction I think. Maybe air filter at home is worth a try also.

A lot of times it is caused through alergies. I am alergic to Cats and Dogs, but have two cats. I get Asthma attacks sometimes from my alergies, however, it isn't as severe. I start really weezing, but by going outside, it goes away pretty quickly.

What helped me most was the book by actor Paul Sorvino (Mia Sorvino's father) titled _How to Be (Become?) a Former Asthmatic_. Before becoming an actor, Sorvino had wanted to become an opera singer, but was thwarted by his asthma. Years later, when doing a play, he met some people who taught him some breathing exercises that originated in Yoga. He found that it cured (controlled) his asthma without drugs. I've been asthmatic since the age of five, and was given the book in college twenty six years ago. Though I still have the tendency, I've never had to fill a prescription for asthma medicine since.

The book is out of print, but used copies can be found through Amazon.com

Hi,
I also suffered from asthama few years back.I used some medicines I don't know how they worked out for me here is the list
1.Asthalin(Indian based medicine)
Did jogging and excercise for some days.
Took fish medicine in India.I don't know which had impact on curing the disease. Now I am completely free of it.
Moreover Asthama has to be cured before certain age otherwise it won't cure that's what my and some other people belief.I don't how much truth is there.
I hope this will be helpful
Thanks
Anupa

I also continued in neighborhood sports (football) even though afer 30 minutes of playing I would have to stop, lie down, and just struggle to breath for about an hour (this was before they had the little portable inhalers).

Regarding the fish, I was going to mention fish oil, but had no personal experience with that working. The theory would be that some fish, such as wild salmon, have high levels of Omega-3 oil, which has an anti-inflammatory effect which might relate to lessening any allergic reactions.
Omega-3 is usally considered very healthy anyway, the only caution is that fish can be contaminated. I use fish oil for general health that has molecularly distilled to remove impurities and pollution.

I had asthma somewhere around my early childhood till the age of 10, but went through some exercises involving yoga , breathing exercises( actually it was forced upon me by dad :-) ) . But luckily I got free from it.
I am not sure whether the same thing will work for you, but I believe its worth looking in to.
