how to use a text box value set by java script

i m using jsp and java scripts. script is returning some value which i have displayed in a text box in jsp. No i have to use that value in SQL query in the same jsp page.
how can i do it???
please try to help me !!

Hi badchip,

SQL is generally misplaced in a JSP. Combine your JSP with a Servlet and a simple Java Bean which
contains an SQL execution method.

As already mentioned by Reinhard that it is a bad idea to use SQL in JSP. If required you can get the text box value using DOM.
