-ve? +ve? What's that supposed to mean?

Do you by any chance mean negative and positive?

This might seem strange, but I find that demotivators.com is a good place for inspiration.

+ve = Positive
-ve = Negative

These abbreviations are so common in the field of mathematics/engineering that they have become unofficial standards. (very much possible that its true only for this part of geography). Even lecturers while writing on board use it extensively.

PS: I dont know whether anupa oru has been from maths side or not.

They may be standards in communications between Indians, but I assure you they're not for the rest of us. Indians attempting to communicate with the outside world will probably find it's easier if they avoid these abbreviations.

And yes, I know there are rumours about one guy in Judea some 2000 years ago but those have never been independently verified

Oh, I thought people use it even though I never saw them in writing and in speaking we can't say if they want to say "positive" or +ve

hhmmmmmmmmmmmmm....Now I realize why my manager don't reply when I write I am not +ve about this idea (just kidding...) I thought I would not have a chance to reply to Jim's technical posts so let it be in MD atleast

Regards,
Maulin
