Personal preference. Each has pros and cons.

Are you looking to purchase in bulk? I found that certain so called "good deals" can be found at Wal-mart. The only difference is that Wal-mart doesn't charge yearly fees.

i just became a Sam's Club member a few month ago. because there is a sam club branch near my home, closer than any cosco one. i have been doing many of my shopping there. when buying a tv/dvd combo, i did a comparision between sam club and best buy. they usually do not sell same brand, but i think sam club's deal was better. so i buy it there. sam club is operated by walmart, so there should really be no much difference between sam club and walmart. but i noticed walmart does not sell veg, deli, fruit,... sam's club does.

Super Walmart stores do have a full produce and deli department(s). In some cases, regular Walmart stores also have Frozen and canned goods section(s).

We have a number of walmart super centers in Texas. They do carry the groceries(fruits and vegetables). Their produce quality tends to be less compared to stores like 'Tom Thumb' and 'Albertsons'. Since their shelf life was so bad, I stopped or curtailed buying produce from Walmart. I only buy stuff like soaps, shampoos and other house-hold items from Walmart now-a-days. We also have some Super-targets where the produce quality is good and choice for household items is superiod in quality aswell.
