Hi,

Does this book cover persistence for MessageDrivenBeans in detail?

I guess the answer to your questions depends on how MessageDrivenBeans, MDBs, are integrated into your application.

The book doesn't discuss MDBs in particular, as the book is not about EJB development, but instead, performing persistence. However, the idea of the book is to give the reader a solid grounding in how to use Hibernate, and how Hibernate works. So, armed with this knowledge, any person creating an MDB could easily accept a message, and then persist that message to the database using Hibernate.

From a design point of view, I like to see an MDB simply pass business or persistence logic to another component, maybe a stateless session bean, or even a service object that can then leverage hibernate or a DAO pattern to persist the data that has been passed in.

Kindest regards,

-Cameron McKenzie
