Hi Authors,

I had used Hibernate Search in shopping search engine. It really speedup the search. But while building database it slows down the process.
Also many time their was problem in JMS Master/slave synchronization.

So What factors we have to consider while using hibernate search in web application ?

Thanks

You mean when you initially index your data the first time it is slower? Or you mean even when the event model kicks in?
Initially indexing a database is usually limited by how fast you can read data from the database. I give a few strategies in the book and particularly on Chapter 9 which focuses on performance improvement.
If your system is always slow to index, something is wrong. One of the problem could be that you index too many associations (@IndexedEmbedded). But it's hard to guess what could be wrong wo further knowledge. Chapter 9 explores various reasons and solutions (including optimizing the index - ie defragmenting it).

I would like to know more about the problems you found on the asynchronous cluster mode. We did extensive tests especually on Hibernate Search 3.1 and people use this feature without problem. Let's try and find what was wrong in your case.

Hi Emmanuel ,

Thanks for reply.

Yes you are correct. While indexing data first time it was little bit slows the process.

I would like to know more about the problems you found on the asynchronous cluster mode.

Some time due to some special ascii character in data, it hangs up the indexing process. so the indexing was not synchronized with database.

Thank You,

can you open a bug in our JIRA issue for us to have a look. Lucene is supposed to be UTF-8, so it should not be a problem.
