Hi
i have a an application that reads an excel file, and then adds some more info into it.
it's all working nice on windows, but when i try opening it on a unix based system, it says that the file is 'Read Only' . like it's still in use ...

is there a need to perform some action on the file after i write the info into it? (in linux).

thank you

p.s
my very first post after reading these forums for the last couple of months

Welcome to the JavaRanch (or at least posting on it).
Have you checked the file's permissions (ls -l)? You can change the permissions with chmod.

So far, it looks as that the problem is at the linux side.
it's managed by another group in my company, so i can't really look into it, but i passed them a request to check the permission issue.
it may take them a month or two to get into it.... :S
thank you for your help
