install jdk vista problem

hi..having problem installing jdk in windows vista..yes i have been sun.com site and instructions but still not happening..yes i have try adding at end path...

CLASSPATH

when i type javac at command prompt.. i get 'javac' not recognized internal or external ...etc..

Note that PATH entries are separated by a semicolon (";"). You didn't put one before your new entry at the end of the PATH.

Note, also, that after changing the PATH, you'll need to close your console window and open a new one to get the benefit of the changes.

thank you very much it works...got one problem sorted now have another ..i cant save java file in bin directory..i get 'You dont have permission to save in this location contact the adminstrator to obtain permission'..

Well, don't save files there, anyway -- it's a very bad practice. Create your own directory somewhere else to store your work!

I also have a problem about running this program
the error is same as the previous one

I have added some already
Does it has any mistake which leads it to the unrecognised program

I hope you mean
C:\j2sdk1.4.2_18\bin
.
Else try this,
Lets say java is installed in your system in a location,say java_home. So go to java_home/bin and type javac. If it works there then add that path to system path.
