"Semantics" means, roughly, "meaning." The "semantics of a class" refers to the behavior and intended use of that class. For a simple example: the "Object.clone()" method has shallow-copy semantics -- to use it properly, you should understand that the default implementation copies an object, but not its member data.

We would need more context to know for sure what was likely intended by that phrase.
 
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
