OK! First of all sorry to all for this post. I was sure that I'll get a voucher soon so I posted this and was unable to give the exam.

Anyways now finally after a long wait I got a voucher from a ranch buddy somnath paul . My preparation has been hammered since my last post about my exam. I have hardly got any time for SCJP. So now I have forgotten a lot of things. I will give the exam this month. I have started reading K&B again 2-3 chapters a day. I will also give the master exams again and Inquisition exam. I will also try the examlab by devaka. Let's hope for the best. I'll post my result in the results section

Any suggestions on how I must prepare now after such a long pause are welcome...

Good luck... I am also studying for the SCJP. I'm currently reading K&B's book. I simply cannot read 2-3 chaps a day though... the kidz interrupt me. Of course I've been meaning to get this damn SCJP for about 8 years now. I'm thinking of January to take the test but we'll see if the kidz allow me enough uninterrupted time to study and make this date. HAHA. Good luck to you!

Good luck Ankit! You've been answering so many questions in the forum here with very good explanations, I have no doubt that you're ready for the exam.

Good luck Ankit. What is this master's exam and Inquisition exam you mentioned?
I am also studying for SCJP5 full time. I have gone thru K&B's book once. Now I am revising each chapter and retake the self tests again. I also plan to practice enthuware's tests. Do you have any other suggestions for me? Other ranchers please give me some advice on how best to prepare. I have the voucher and plan to give the exam next month. I have not set a date yet.
Thanks,
Meera

Knock it out of the park Ankit!

I agree with Jesper, when I see a rancher answer as many questions as you do I feel you're gonna do great!

Thanks a lot everyone for your wishes. I hope I will be able to live up to the expectations of everyone  . I am just getting warmed up again after 1 month pause and I have 1 week to prepare. I have not scheduled the exam but I will give it this Friday most probably.

@Meera the Master Exam is the one that comes on a CD with K&B book. Inquisition is a free mock SCJP exam simulator with some very good questions...

Good luck everyone!

Friday morning for me but unfortunately this is the first Sun exam I've taken feeling slightly unprepared despite reading KS&BB excellent book.

I think more than any other Sun exam I've done I need to get more practical work of writing lots of small bits of code to really hammer home what the exam will be testing.

I just scheduled my exam for Friday morning. I don't have time for rigorous studies but I am just giving the free mocks. I have completed the K&B Book third time. I gave Master Exam 2 yesterday and scored 93% on it .

One more thing, I just checked the receipt that they gave me and it says the exam duration as 3:45??? But the exam duration is 210min i.e. 3:30 right. Can someone please clarify.

Let's see how it goes in the real exam. I will tell my result to you all ASAP in the results section...

Thanks a lot everyone for your good wishes.

I have made this strategy for the exam. In the first pass I will solve only the easy questions. I will not solve the ones with long codes. This is because when the brain get's tired there is a chance to make silly mistakes on the easy ones. I don't want to loose any marks on the easy questions. I will also solve the Drag and Drop ones in the first pass. I think this step would be complete in about 1 hour.
In the second pass I will just take a brief look at the ones that I have already solved and solve the long ones. In these I will first look at the code and search for any compilation errors. If none are found then I will go through the logic of the code starting from the main method. So I will come up with the answer. I will also mark the ones that I am confused with.
In the third pass I will just look back at the marked questions. When this all is set and done, I will get my result which hopefully will be good .
I saw the testing center and it looks good. The exam room is also at one corner so there will be no disturbance. Also the machine looked good so I think it would not hand up in the middle of the exam like it did for someone some time ago ...

Hi Ankit,

Per my experience of SCJP 1.4, you will encounter a lots of questions from threads and flow control since these are very important topics and read the questions and answers carefully.

I do know that you will get above mid 90's.

I wish you all the best.

Thanks,

Naveen Katoch

Thanks all of you guys. I hope I am not going to disappoint all of you  . As far as I have heard, the real exam is easier than most of the mocks. And I am scoring around 85% on most of the mocks now. So I hope that the real exam will be easy for me.

you will encounter a lots of questions from threads and flow control

I hope that I will get more questions from these topics and less ones from API as I am weak at API related questions as I have a habit of looking into the documentation for any problems and it surely won't be available in the exam engine ...

Hi Ankit!

Wish You all the best and I am sure you will get above 90% . I have seen so many of your explanation in this forum. It was awesome. I am also going to hit my exam on dec 22nd..my exam fever has started now itself. please do guide us through your experience.

what are all the mock exams should i finish before my exam? i am practicing with whizlab, SClab, master exam(haven't started) and some free exams. i dont have any experience with java . i am preparing since 4 months and reading k&B 2nd time.
I have done only diagnostic exams from Sclab and whizlab.

please do guide me...to get enough confidence

Thanks in advance
Preetha

Thanks a lot everyone for your wishes. You have given me so much confidence that I am not feeling nervous at all.

Preetha if you read the K&B book and give Master Exam and Whizlabs, then I think it is enough to get anything above 80-85%. And you still have about a month left. Just read the book second time and give mock exams. I don't know about the SClabs you are talking about but I think you should also try ExamLab. I am a bit weak at API related questions so I would recommend that you create a lot of programs to practice. That way you will not have to memorize the API. The mock exams also give you a good idea about how much you know about the API. Recently I was reading a mock exam and there was a question

Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in).useDelimeter("\n");

I thought that it would be a compilation error as useDelimeter would return void. But to my surprise all the methods in Scanner class return Scanner object . So I hope that I will not get questions of such exceptional cases in the real exam...
