I think I read somewhere that the 2 Finnish delegates were thinking of changing their vote away from Paris and to London after he offended the whole of Finland with his statements about Finnish cuisine! - If thats true then Chirac almost certainly lost it for the Paris bid!!
Yes, Chirac's comments have certainly reduced to nil any sympathy I may feel for the Parisians. Given that, and their apparent arrogance in thinking that they would certainly win, made images of their reaction to the decision somewhat amusing. I can't see it enough times - a square full of Parisians, covered in Paris2012 banners, jumping around... the result is announced... and then the sound of mass moaning and hands slapping foreheads.
