This might be the biggest surprise victory of England in international sports after the 1966 final in Fifa World Cup.
This time without a goal, which was none. Much more in synch with well known fair play kind of sportsmanship of englishmen.
Congrats
I was pro-London.

Funny how just after celebrating a 200yr old battle where the English defeated the French and the Spanish - London managed to emerge victorious in a different kind of battle against Paris and Madrid!!

I wonder how much Chirac's little dummy spit the other day influenced the IOC delegates decision? I think I read somewhere that the 2 Finnish delegates were thinking of changing their vote away from Paris and to London after he offended the whole of Finland with his statements about Finnish cuisine! - If thats true then Chirac almost certainly lost it for the Paris bid!!

It was also slightly ironic that London's celebratory party started in Trafalgar Square.

Yes, Chirac's comments have certainly reduced to nil any sympathy I may feel for the Parisians. Given that, and their apparent arrogance in thinking that they would certainly win, made images of their reaction to the decision somewhat amusing. I can't see it enough times - a square full of Parisians, covered in Paris2012 banners, jumping around... the result is announced... and then the sound of mass moaning and hands slapping foreheads.

I was actually pulling for New York (It was a long shot, I know)... but in the end I am glad it was London over Paris!

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
