I am looking for some recommendations on 80's music.
There are so many out there, and I dont know which ones to buy.

Eighties bands

And too often, I buy a CD, and find that half the songs are not to my liking (but I guess, there isn't any getting away from this, other than doing a pay-download)

Some of my faves to give an idea of what I am looking for:

Cutting crew - I just died in your arms tonight
Monaco - what do you want from me
Johnny hates jazz - shattered dreams
A-Ha - Take on me
Duran Duran - come undone (this was in early 1990's)

I am not quite sure if they all belong to the same genre.
Can someone recommend other artists/songs who created music like this?

Thanks.

a. Stupid/boring question.
b. Wrong forum.
c. 80's music is so not in.
d. 80's music is so in, but your choices suck.

I actually enjoy listening to 80's music and would patronise the music stores looking for best/top 80's compilation/single albums. I've some artists in mind whose music, imo, are quite similar to some you mentioned.

Richard Marx - Angelia

Tears For Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love, Shout and other songs

Howard Jones - What Is Love, New Song

Spandau Ballet - True, Gold, Only When You Leave

Take That (90's) - Everything Changes, Pray, Sure and other songs

Great.. let me check out all the bands/songs you have mentioned.

I like Dire Straits, and The Scorpions, but their music (or atleast those songs that I have listened to) does not quite fit what I had in mind. Think I am looking for something not very heavy, more light hearted, techno-ish pop from the 80's, I guess.
Maybe I should just listen to more of their music. But I shall give them all a try. Thanks!

Oh man, I had so totally managed to block out A Flock of Seagulls! You just had to bring them up, didn't you?
