Hi All,
I did the SCJP and now want to do the SCEA. I do know that one book doesn't cover all the topics for the exam (as it's very broad) but i'm wondering if someone could recommend some book or study guide etc to initially get me started - (e.g. like one of the books listed at http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/279-7242464-0751029?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sun+certified+architect&x=0&y=0 perhaps). Are there any downloadable e-books (or resources) that people could recommend also?
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Ro.

I'd say the following are pretty indispensable, but there's heaps more depending on your experience/understanding of the various objectives.

Gang of Four
Core J2EE Patterns, 2n Edition
Java EE 5 Tutorial
Individual J2EE API specifications(EJB, JPA, JSF, JMS, JAXWS, etc)
Designing Enterprise Applications with the J2EETM Platform, Second Edition
Core Security Patterns: Best Practices and Strategies for J2EE

I'd think twice about getting one of the SCEA study guides. I haven't seen the updated version for the current exam, but if the format's the same as the old one it's only going to skim over the topics.

Get hold of some practice exams; find your weaknesses, then get the relevant books/specifications.
