Hi Friends,

After reading all the success stories, I feel motivated to clear this exam. I have around 9 years of good Java/J2EE experience working on desing and architecture. I don't have any other certifications (never felt a need). Since am working on some open source projects as well, its bit hard for me to spend more than couple of hours a day for the preparation.

I need some guidance about the books and study materials. Its all scattered among various posts. Is there some list / good post or compilation which summarizes it all?

Thanks for your help.
Pawan

There is no concrete compiled & complete doc for SCEA 5 - Part 1 preparation. But you can use the following to get started, which is what I did.

Application Design Concepts and Principles
Common Architectures

Integration and Messaging
Business Tier Technologies
Web Tier Technologies

> check out SUN J2EE tutorial for the above 3 http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/

Applicability of Java EE Technology

Patterns

> For patterns
>> For GOF patterns -> http://www.vincehuston.org/dp/ & http://www.dofactory.com/Patterns/Patterns.aspx Also lots of resource on the internet.

>> For J2EE Design Patterns -> http://www.corej2eepatterns.com/Patterns2ndEd/index.htm

I dont say these materials will be sufficient.
But, this will surely help you get started!
