I was going to watch it, but now I'm glad I didn't. I turned on the tv to get the score just in time to see the third goal go in. The commentator summed it up well in one word: "embarrassing".
What on earth can be done now? The team have got some vital (qualifying) games coming up, and then the world cup next year (hopefully). Its too late to change coaches now without causing massive disruption, but I'm beginning to have less confidence in Sven. Its not so much that things haven't been great, its that he never seems to change things when they do. It doesn't matter if England are winning, loosing or drawing, the tactics are always the same. When something isn't working, most managers/coaches will change things around, but Sven doesn't seem to ever want to do this.
I just hope he can sort it out soon.

We lose the soccer, we lose the cricket, what to you expect. If Bruse Lee was into soccer he would not turn up in the afternoon for a kick around then have some beers after. Take your average-to-good footballer like Backham, Bruce can kick harder then him, jump harder then him and run faster then him. He has the discipline of the mind like Buddha,I bet he meditated a lot ,and he has all the cockiness of Muhammad Ali. If Backham had a body like body like Pruce he would be he would be a much better footballer and he would at least get an extra 15k a week in his pay packet.
Dont mistake me for someone who is putting Beckham down, I have more respect for him then I do the average man by fare.
I don't rate Sven, we don't play to our strengths. Since we have not got a natural left footed midfielder, we should have changed our team to fit around our strengths. We have:
Two of the best forwards with Owen and Rooney. Three of the best midfielders with Beckham, Gerarld, Lampard - shame Scholes retired. Four of the best defenders with (Cambell, Fredinam, Cole, Terry).
What England are missing is a strong defence minded central midfield player (a midfield spoiler!). Every successfully team has one: Chelsea has Makelele (and Real Madrid missed him last year), Man U have Keane, Arsenal had ( ) Vieira. Maybe if we tried someone like King in midfield.
I don't see why we can't play a 5-3-3, or even 4-1,3,2.
As for Beckham, I think he played quite well. But he will never be a defensive midfielder like Keane, or be able to run at other teams (with the ball) like Giggs. But what he does do is pass the ball like nobody else (since Gazza) - and take the odd free kick. Off the pitch I do question his commitment, as seems to spend way too much time poncing around.
I lost faith in FA a long time ago, they have a history of picking the wrong England manager. Never understood why Brian Clough did not get the chance. The FA were afraid of him.
Gerald, your right about Ali - "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights."
