I have read that Crimson and Xerces-J are Java Parser libraries and DOM2 and SAX2 are Parser APIs.

I would be great if someone expalins the difference between the two..

An "API" is a specification which describes how software should work. DOM and SAX fall into that category.

It's then possible to write software which conforms to that specification. Crimson and Xerces fall into that category.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
