This week's book giveaway is in the Reactive Progamming forum. We're giving away four copies of Reactive Streams in Java: Concurrency with RxJava, Reactor, and Akka Streams and have Adam Davis on-line! See this thread for details.
I understand your reaction. However, please understand my reaction when I mention that Stripes has been around since 2005. It's not like it came out last week, so I feel that "oh no not another framework" is not really fair to Stripes.
That aside, the real question is for you to determine if it's worth having a look at Stripes. If you find that developing web applications is more work than it ought to be, I'd say at least taking Stripes out for a test drive is worth it.
There's an internal joke between some of the stripes community that Tim Fennel, Stripes creator, was going to call it YAFF. He opted for Stripes, thankfully, but he shared your sentiments. But it had to be done. Java web development should be fun, and Stripes makes it fun, again.
